Kilka sekund szukania i na jednym z forów znalazłem przyczynę:

To stop this error you need to clean your cartridge's contacts. What is happening is you are tripping SRAM copy protection by your cartridge making poor contact. When the game is played on an older backup/copier device this message will prevent you from playing the game because copiers always mapped in their whole SRAM chip. Newer smarter copiers will check the imbedded ROM info and only map in the amount of SRAM the game expects, thus not tripping the SRAM copy protection. Cleaning your system's cart port and the cart itself should resolve the issue.

Super Punch Out, Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, and many other games have SRAM copy protection. With Killer Instinct for instance if it detects ANY SRAM at all it knows to trigger the copy protection screen as the real cartridge has none. For the games that have SRAM you can test to see just how much SRAM there is. Too much or too little and you can figure out that the software is not running on a legit cartridge. Ofcourse dirty contacts can cause all sorts of issues.
